About Complementary Medicine
Overview
Complementary Medicine
Complementary medicine is used in addition to conventional medicine
to improve wellness, prevent disease or treat health problems.
Ingalls Wellness Center offers a number of complementary therapies
to improve patient outcomes. For more information, call 708-206-0072.
These are some of the services we offer:
• Acupuncture - a branch of Chinese medicine in which needles
are inserted into the patient's skin as therapy
for various
disorders
• Hypnosis - a trancelike state that helps therapists gain
access
to the patient's subconscious in order to induce
weight loss,
smoking cessation or to ease stress, insomnia
and phobias
• Aromatherapy - the art and science of using essential
oils for
health and prevention benefits
• Massage - uses rubbing and kneading in all areas of the
body
to relieve muscular pain and induce relaxation
• Reflexology - a procedure in which the foot is used to
heal
other areas of the body
• Reiki and therapeutic touch - a healing practice that
uses
energy from a practitioner's hands to heal a
patient
