When you or someone you love has been injured by an accident or illness, Ingalls offers a full continuum of rehabilitative services, such as acute therapy, inpatient rehabilitation, Day Rehabilitation, outptient therapies and home health therapies. A patient can enter at any program phase and can be referred by any physician.
At Ingalls, our goal is to guide patients through whatever care is required, from inpatient to outpatient, as efficiently as possible to achieve the best possible results.
Our physiatrists are physicians who specialize in physical medicine and rehabilitation. They function as the team leader in each patient's rehabilitation program and goal setting with the referring physician and the interdisciplinary team. Our physiatrists see patients daily in the inpatient program. Once discharged, patients who participate in the Day Rehab Program are seen by a physiatrist weekly.
Functional improvement is measured from the time a patient arrives until his or her discharge. Our patients make excellent progress marked by significant improvement in activities such as walking, bathing and using the bathroom. With these gains for independence, 60% of our patients at the Ingalls Center for Rehabilitative Medicine return to the community.
Once a patient completes inpatient rehabilitation, continued therapy or nursing care may be necessary. The most appropriate setting for continued therapy willl be recommended. If a patient is homebound, home care is available.
